Got my hands on a new track from We Are Scientists. This is their 1st album was on Virgin Records and has a couple of snappy tunes on it but I never felt like the album was as good as the live show. The band rips. This 2nd album was out on Astralwerks May 13th. I'm only 4 tracks into Brain Thrust Mastery and I gotta tell ya, LOVE IT. I'll consume the rest of the album over the weekend while I'm sweating it out in the 100+ Los Angeles spring heatwave we're having and let you know what's up. Until then please check out my fave track so far. It's called "After Hours" and it's cut #3.
Hope you all enjoyed AI Results and Alum night. Speaking of, Fantasia scares the hell out of me. Talk about a SHRIEK-Y, hectic mess. Yikes. She's a great performer... i just wish she would have performed something other than whatever that was.
The video montages ran and we got a peek at what 50+ Million fans/stalkers look like. These kids are straight up royalty in these tiny little towns. Insanity.
David "Gosh" Archuleta headed back to Utah where Murray City's Mayor tuned up his creepy mustache...
Syesha Mercado hit Sarasota where the Mayor felt the need to flip upside down and show us her girdle. Thanks for that, ma'am.
David Cook is a Rockstar. He's more than ready to hang up his bar rag and record an album. And yes, i will drink to that!
The votes are in, and as predicted, the Davids will battle it out next week. I will, of course, be backing DC. I'm gonna wrack up some serious texting charges in my attempt to keep Archuleta fever at bay.
The Cure are releasing their 13th studio album in a very unique way. The band will be putting out a new song on the 13th of each month for 13 months. The first song is called "The Only One" and came out yesterday. Let the Cure flow to your ears...
I really like this track. I was a huge fan of Pornography and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. There have been hits and misses over the years. To my ears this is what I want from The Cure. Dark and brooding but still contemporary. Robert's voice sounds solid.
The next single is called "Freakshow" and will be released June 13th. Both tracks were produced by Robert Smith and Keith Uddin. Songs for July 13th and August 13th will be announced in the coming weeks.
I'm still not sold on the idea of releasing these tracks over the course of a year. Although the fact that nearly everything the major labels try to do right now is a disaster makes me think maybe it's not such a bad idea. We'll see how stoked you are about hearing songs 6 and 7 in November.

David Archuleta attempted to pull off a skinny tie...and Billy Joel. Disappointing on both points. Predictable, safe, boring, forgettable and uncomfortable in his own skin.
Syesha and Alicia... i enjoyed this, but the thing is, the world already has Alicia, we don't need someone that tries to sound like Alicia or Mariah or Whitney... you get my point. Randy let her off easy with that choice. Syesha could have sang that one in her sleep.
David Cook got challenged... and his falsetto got a workout. The arrangement was stellar...completely original. It was UNREAL. They should have crowned him the winner right there on the spot...Game Over.
Round #2
UMMM, did Archuleta actually try to pull off "boo"?? Dude, you are SO white. The only time "boo" should EVER come out of your mouth is when you put on your pre-teen Casper costume next Halloween. Needless to say, NOT good. Must have been another genius suggestion from Dear Ol' Dad. Thank god it didn't come with choreography... the side to side sway was awkward enough.
Syesha has had a serious style makeover. Where's the young, hip chick with the trademark fro? She's been replaced by a sequined, sleek haired cabaret act. She stayed in her comfort zone by going back to the 1970's well for her personal song choice. It was a little sleazy, and did nothing for her chances in this competition.
Switchfoot pretty much blows, so i was hoping Cook could do something good with it. But it was too much intro, not enough hook...he should have picked something that grabbed the audience more.
Round #3
I wish Archuleta would stop squinting at me like that... it's creepy. It's as if a 60 year old is trapped in a 6 year's old body. It's not "HOT", Randy. And you all need to stop with the "you can sing the phonebook" bullshit. So few people have that kind of ability... and Archuleta just isn't one of them. His challenge will be making a record that doesn't put people to sleep.
Beyonce.... oops, i mean Syesha, hit the stage with a "song about penguins" (Thanks Simon for that clarification... or lack thereof). It was our chance to see what she would do with a current pop song. It just wasn't impressive. I predict she just sang her final note.
With David and Aerosmith, i hated the arrangement...it was way too busy. But Diane Warren seemed to be smiling, and that's a good thing. Doesn't matter, he belongs in the finals.
